A man was found dead Thursday morning at a Lehi construction worksite on 1200 West near Timpanogos Highway, where his body was pinned against a forklift, the Lehi Fire Department said.

According to a press release, the wife of the man found deceased discovered that he hadn’t returned home from work Thursday morning.vWhile searching for him, she went to the construction site, where she and construction crew members assisting her found his body. Emergency crews responded to the scene around 8 a.m.

Lehi officials have not identified the man or his age.

According to the release, the man was found pinned against a forklift boom truck.

“So it appeared that the patient had been working on a boom forklift and while doing that, somehow he became entrapped,” Battalion Chief Shad Hatfield told reporters during a briefing Thursday afternoon. “The boom trapped him between the engine compartment, the cab and the boom.”

Officials say they’re investigating what exactly happened, but it’s unclear what work the victim was doing at the time of the incident.

It’s unknown if the man was alone at the worksite or what time he arrived. But according to the press release, it’s believed he may have died overnight.

The Lehi Fire Department, along with various agencies from across Utah County including the Utah County Special Response Team, worked to recover the man’s body from the construction equipment.

By 3 p.m., crews were beginning to depart the area.

Spokesperson Jeanteil Livingston said more information may be released as it becomes available.
