Sachse senior Cooper Tea was selected as the 9-6A co-most valuable player.

Sachse is not unfamiliar with success, but this season, it took the program to new heights.

The Mustangs finished second in 9-6A, earning their eighth consecutive playoff berth.

But Sachse was just getting started, as it saved its best for a historic run.

The Mustangs did not allow a goal in shutout victories over Royse City, Mansfield, Duncanville, and Cypress Woods to reach the regional final for the second time ever and first since 2017.

There, they squared off with perennial power The Woodlands, and it was Sachse that was able to claim a 2-1 victory to advance to the Class 6A state tournament for the first time in program history.

The Mustangs nearly took the journey further, but were outlasted by eventual state champion Katy Seven Lakes, 3-1, in overtime.

The foundation was laid during 9-6A play and Sachse was well-represented on the all-district team, where it earned 14 spots, including a pair of superlative awards.

That included the top honor as senior midfielder Cooper Tea was voted as the co-most valuable player.

Tea was one of the most prolific scorers in the area, tallying 22 goals and adding a pair of assists, and he also went on to the named to the 6A state all-tournament team.

Senior Harris Dunic was selected as the defensive the year. The versatile Dunic not only led a defense that posted 12 shutouts, including the four straight in the playoffs, but also registered 11 goals and five assists.

Sachse landed four more players on the first team with senior midfielders Tanner Tea and Zebastian Rios, senior defender Marc Wilson and junior midfielder Axel Gomez.

Sophomore goalkeeper Josh Weston led a quartet of second-team honorees. Weston came up huge in the playoffs, posting a scoreless streak of 625 minutes during their stretch of four straight shutouts.

Weston was joined by junior midfielder Roberto Diaz, junior defender Gael DeLira and sophomore defender Chance Anderson.

Sachse's honorable mention selections were sophomore midfielder Luis DeLeon, junior defender Taegan Schnurr, senior midfielder Jorge Martinez and sophomore midfielder Jayden Garcia.
